George Kittle is a proud Hawkeye, and he’s especially a big fan of Iowa women’s hoops star Caitlin Clark.
In a new interview with Fox News Digital, Kittle recapped what it was like to meet Clark when he and his wife Claire traveled back to Iowa City for a second round NCAA Tournament game last month.
“She’s incredibly personable. She’s charismatic. She’s just so authentic,” Kittle told Fox News Digital. “She doesn’t fake anything. She’s very interested in everything you’re talking about. She’s great to have a conversation with. You can tell how much she loves her teammates.”
Clark’s good nature is not just reserved for her teammates and visiting dignitaries like the Kittles either, George explained.
“We were hanging out in the training room after the game just to get away from the crowd a little bit,” he said. “She comes in, hugs all the athletic trainers, talks to everybody, talks to us a little bit, and you just see how much people care for her. She has this incredible reputation that she’s built day in and day out. So, she’s done that and just so excited for her.”
Iowa won the game George and his wife attended, beating West Virginia to advance to the Sweet 16. Clark scored 32 points in the win, and would go on to pour in 121 more over the next four games as the Hawkeyes reached the national championship game before falling to South Carolina.
Clark became the No. 1 overall pick of the WNBA’s Indiana Fever last week, and immediately broke a Fanatics record for jersey sales.
“I’ll definitely have a Caitlin Clark jersey at some point,” Kittle said.
