We could see the two pair up as soon as next season
Leading up to free agency in 2024, it had been reported that the Los Angeles Chargers were listening to offers for Joey Bosa. At one point, there was a belief that Joey would be released and free to sign anywhere. It had gotten to the point where a Chargers reporter linked Bosa to the San Francisco 49ers.
ESPN’s Kris Rhim spoke with the elder Bosa earlier this week about the potential of playing with Nick in the future: I’d be cool at some point. I always thought of myself being somebody that will play here and retire here, which I think not many people do on one team, and I think that would be a cool thing to accomplish, but you never know. I’m going to worry about this year first.”
Bosa is under contract through the 2025 season with the Chargers, but it’s structured more like a one-year deal where he’s released in 2025. So, while Joey says he’s worried about this season, there’s a strong possibility that we will talk about the Bosa’s pairing up at the professional level after this year.
In March, The Athletic’s Daniel Popper said,” Joey Bosa has been pretty public about the fact that he’s always wanted to play with his brother.”
Leonard Floyd is this year’s edge rusher opposite of Nick. He, too, is on what reads like a one-year deal. So that heightens the probability of Joey, eventually, playing with Nick— assuming he’s released after 2024.
