San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch wouldn’t get deep into details about contract negotiations with Brandon Aiyuk.
On Monday, Lynch told reporters he’s had “good talks” with the star wide receiver. He confirmed that Aiyuk has not reported to the team’s voluntary offseason program.
When asked if any teams have inquired about Aiyuk, Lynch said he “receives calls about a lot of players.” He then interrupted before a reporter could finish asking if Lynch has given Aiyuk permission to seek a trade.
“I’m not going to get into all those details,” Lynch said, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco. “We’re really focused on B.A. being part of us. He’s under contract, and we’re looking forward to that.”
Lynch pointed to a similar situation with Deebo Samuel, who signed a contract extension before the 2022 season. The GM hopes they can also keep Aiyuk around.
“Our wish is he’s here and part of the Niners for the rest of his career,” Lynch said.
After accruing 1,342 receiving yards last season, Aiyuk is currently slated to play the 2024 campaign on a fifth-year option worth $14.1 million. Trade speculation has spread throughout the offseason, but his future with the team remains unclear.
Lynch said he’s “working through” the negotiation process, but he wanted to keep details private to respect Aiyuk’s privacy and focus on this week’s NFL Draft.
