The San Francisco 49ers took care of their defensive leader, Fred Warner, with a new contract extension on Thursday.
Warned inked a five-year, $95 million extension with the 49ers on Thursday. $40.5 million of the extension is guaranteed. It’s more than fitting for one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
Not only is Warner thrilled about the new money he’s now making. He’s also thrilled to be staying in the Bay Area. Warner has become a fan favorite in San Francisco.
“Wow. Honored and blessed to remain Faithful for years to come!! Thank you to Jed, John, Paraag, Kyle and everyone for believing in me and allowing me this opportunity. I thank EVERYONE who’s helped bring me to this point in my career. We’re only getting started…. Go Niners,” Warner said on Twitter.

The 49ers’ front seven could be one of the best in the NFL this upcoming season. Fred Warner mans the middle with Nick Bosa coming off the edge and Arik Armstead clogging the running lanes. Second-year defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw is also in line for a breakout year.
San Francisco’s defense will likely make or break its quest to win the NFC West. Offense shouldn’t be an issue as long as Jimmy Garoppolo and/or Trey Lance stay healthy.
As long as Warner and company avoid injuries, the 49ers could compete not only for the NFC West, but the NFC as a whole, this upcoming season.
