The hype surrounding 49ers rookie Trey Lance is starting to reach an all-time high in San Francisco. Fans were already looking forward to seeing what the No. 3 overall draft pick can do in his debut season, but his solid training camp showing so far has only furthered that excitement.
After a training camp practice on Tuesday, the team posted a video of Lance that had mouths watering all over Niners nation.
Rolling to his right, the former North Dakota State standout launched a bomb downfield — connecting perfectly with second-string wide receiver Trent Sherfield for the touchdown.
“Got the deep ball on speed dial,” the 49ers Twitter account wrote.

Heading into the 2021 season, the 49ers are expected to start returning quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo Week 1. But, whether the San Francisco front office wants to admits it or not, that could very well change — especially if Lance continues to show out in training camp.
In today’s training camp practice, Lance took his first ever reps with the starting unit. The young QB reportedly completed 13 of his 14 passes (93%), making for “one of best training camp practices” from a San Francisco quarterback in recent memory, according to longtime 49ers insider Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated.
The Niners’ first preseason matchup of the year will kickoff on Aug. 14 against Kansas City.
