49ers OT Trent Williams will start next season at 37 years old. When asked about the veteran’s future, GM John Lynch said Williams is “really motivated” for 2025.
“I think he’s really motivated to come back,” Lynch said, via ProFootballTalk. “That’s rarefied air with that Trent lives in, and when you’re a player that has experience playing at those heights, you don’t want to play unless you’re playing … at that level. I think that’s where Trent is at and I think we’re going to see a real motivated Trent Williams to come back and have a great year. That’s a good thing for us.”
Rams

Seahawks
The Seahawks are in extension talks with QB Geno Smith after three solid years as their starting quarterback. Seattle HC Mike Macdonald gave an update on their discussions and spoke on their desire to retain Smith.
“I mean, I’d love to announce it right now, that we’re rolling and Geno’s extended, and we can stop getting the question. Like, absolutely,” Macdonald said, via Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. “But you’ve got to respect the process, too. And our guys are awesome. The way (general manager) John (Schneider) handles his relationships with the agents … man, it’s a lot of stuff going on.
“To my knowledge, you kind of want to leave the situation to where everybody’s really excited about where we’re at, and then you move forward.”
Seahawks GM John Schneider echoed Macdonald’s feelings about extending Smith but wants to ensure they do what’s right for the team.
“We expect him to be our guy,” Schneider added, “but we want to do what’s right, too.”
