After four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne joined the New England Patriots on a three-year, $15 million contract. This week, he had a brutally honest admission about the change.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Bourne admitted that training camp with the Patriots is “definitely harder” than it was with the 49ers. He said that the team works harder in practice than he used to.
But Bourne made it clear that just because it’s harder, it doesn’t he doesn’t want to be there.
“I’ve only been at one other training camp. This is definitely harder,” Bourne said. “We work harder here and I’m glad to be here.

New England Patriots practices are pretty well-known for being brutal. Plenty of NFL stars have joined the team via medium-profile signings or trades, only to be swiftly axed when head coach Bill Belichick didn’t like the direction things were heading.
The Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020, and is wouldn’t surprise anyone if Belichick took any remaining gloves off in preparation for next season.
Given how much the Patriots invested into Kendrick Bourne, his job is probably safe so long as he doesn’t make any monumental mistakes. But he’s definitely in for a rough summer as he prepares for his fifth NFL season.
Will the Patriots rebound from last year’s disappointment to make the playoffs in 2021?
