49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was reportedly arrested and then released in Los Angeles, California on Thursday night.
Field Level Media was the first to break the news that San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles, California on Thursday night. An offseason where the Niners had escaped unnecessary drama is no longer.
Here’s an excerpt:
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers had approached a group that included Lenoir and observed a gun inside a parked vehicle. When police asked for the keys, another man tossed them to Lenoir. Lenoir then threw the keys to a third man who tried to hide them, according to multiple reports.
The 49ers have yet to release a statement. I’m sure we can expect one coming soon. This is the first negative PR for Lenoir. He has been playful on social media this offseason, seemingly growing with confidence and letting everyone know about it.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the 25-year-old is putting himself in situations that he doesn’t need to be in as a professional football player. Lenoir is supposed to be a team leader at a young age, and was just rewarded for his play with a contract extension valued at $89 million, making him the 17th-highest paid cornerback in the league.
We’ll provide more updates as they come, including Lenoir’s court date, the team’s public statement, and anything Lenoir posts on social media.
