An asking price may finally be known for 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
Samuel made the headlines in a massive way last week when he requested a trade out of San Francisco. It was a move that a lot of pundits didn’t see coming, especially since he just had one heck of a 2021 campaign.
Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, one general manager thinks that the 49ers want multiple first-round picks for Samuel.
“One rival GM said to me Sunday that he believes you’d probably have to go to John Lynch with two first-round picks, which would replace the 2022 and ’23 first-rounders the Niners dealt away last year to move up for Trey Lance, to wriggle Samuel free of San Francisco,” Breer wrote. “And that is a lot, even in comparison to the other big receiver trades of the early parts of this year.”

Breer also goes on to say that it’s unlikely Samuel gets dealt between now and Thursday.
Samuel finished the 2021 season with 1,405 yards receiving and six touchdowns off 77 total receptions, plus rushed for 365 yards and eight touchdowns off 59 carries.
It would be hard for the 49ers to part with him considering that they don’t have anyone on their roster that can do what he does.
It remains to be seen which teams become serious suitors for Samuel as the offseason rages on.
