Enter: Washington
The Brandon Aiyuk negotiations continue to go in circles. And on this trip around, the Washington Commanders might be involved.
The San Francisco Chronicle’s Mike Silver made a KNBR appearance on Thursday saying that “everything is still on the table, including all the trades you’ve heard about.” This includes a re-entrance of sorts for the Washington Commanders.
Latest on Aiyuk from @MikeSilver with Tolbert and @Adamcopes:
“My updated information is that everything is still on the table, including all the trades you’ve heard about… That Steelers scenario… I wouldn’t rule out Washington.”
Back and forth we go.

The Commanders traded away wide receiver Jahan Dotson on Thursday. This came after reports saying Dyami Brown was outplaying him. Regardless, the trade may have been a move to clear room (and obtain picks) for Aiyuk. Aiyuk has been linked to the Commanders due to having played with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels when the two were teammates at Arizona State.
The last we heard of this was learning the Steelers had an offer for Aiyuk that was “right in the neighborhood” as the 49ers’ offer. Last weekend we learned that three of the last four years were finalized and a deal was close to being done.
Now we’re back to possibel trade candidates. And given the reporting, all this might be over guaranteed money in the fourth year. Which has led us to the standoff now.
If you want some hope, earlier Thursday before Silver’s appearance, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer answered his mailbag thinking both Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk get done by Labor Day.
Regardless of who says what, for those of us on the outside looking it, it’s a whole lot of circles and nothing happening.
At least this hasn’t reached Mr. Big Chest levels of ridiculousness. Yet.
