So that’s how it’s gonna be, huh?
If Kendrick Bourne is trying to endear himself to his new team, he isn’t off to a good start.
During a session with the media yesterday, Bourne was asked to compare training camp with the Patriots to the ones he experienced with the 49ers in San Francisco. Somehow Bourne picked a response that’s going to anger both teams.
“It’s definitely harder,” he said, “We work harder here.”
Obviously, that’s going to upset the Faithful, former teammates, and possibly Kyle Shanahan.
It’s also going to upset Bill Belichick, who hates players talking to the media and hates comparisons (in addition to babies, Nutella, and smiling, probably). Hell, Belichick once chewed out a player for complimenting a teammate.
Regardless, Bourne’s answer was a bit surprising. Given all the injury problems the team has had in his tenure, as well as the comment by Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool about the Niners’ practice habits, I’d say the prevailing thought was that Kyle was working guys too hard in practice.
Hopefully, someone asks Kyle about Bourne’s opinion the next time he’s behind a microphone. In the meantime, find out everything you need to know about what’s going on with the team in today’s Stats & Eggs podcast.
