The 49ers selected Nick Martin from Oklahoma State
The San Francisco 49ers selected Oklahoma State’s Nick Martin with the 75th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Martin confirmed that he met with the 49ers at the NFL Combine.
Martin is small. There’s no way around that. He’s in the sixth percentile (5’11 1/2) for height and second percentile in weight (221 pounds). But you’d have no idea that was the case when you watch him. He plays physically and with the reckless abandon that you want.
Martin is a superb athlete and plays violently. Almost a little too aggressive. But that shouldn’t be viewed as a bad thing, as that’s a trait you can harness, as opposed to vice versa, and teaching someone to play meaner than they actually are.
The athleticism matches up with how well Martin tested. He ran a 4.53 40 (89th percentile), and was in the 80th percentile in the 10-yard split, vertical jump, broad jump, and bench press.
Physical Profile:
- Height: 6’0”
- Weight: 229 pounds
- 40-yard dash: 4.59 seconds
- 10-yard split: 1.59 seconds
- Vertical jump: 36 inches
- Broad jump: 10’2”
- Bench press: 22 reps at 225 pounds
- Arm length: 31 inches
- Hand size: 9.5 inches
Martin will compete with Dee Winters to start next to Fred Warner. The 49ers electing a linebacker at this juncture in the draft tells us that they likely don’t believe Winters can stay healthy, or isn’t the answer.
