The three best prop bets for 49ers Lions on Sunday

Let’s make things a little more interesting

If you were looking to make Sunday’s game a little more interesting, Michelle Magdziuk and I packed today’s Gold Digger’s podcast with tons of gambling and fantasy advice. If you don’t know, Michelle is a researcher for the NFL Network and also the Director of Content for Ball Blast Football. Here are three of the best bets you can make in the 49ers game this week.

Brandon Aiyuk over 3.5 catches, over 44.5 yards

The Lions allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers last season and haven’t done anything to improve their secondary in any meaningful way. Even with a hamstring that might not be 100%, it isn’t unrealistic to expect Aiyuk to catch one pass per quarter. No offensive starter got more good press this preseason than Brandon Aiyuk. This is a perfect opportunity for him to prove everyone right against a soft defense – especially if he’s guarded by PFF’s lowest-rated coverage cornerback, Jeff Okudah.

Raheem Mostert over 68.5 rushing yards

“He is going to be the fastest player on that field because he’s always the fastest player on the field,” Michelle said, “He could get that in one play.” When Raheem Mostert is healthy, he flat-out produces. As a starter in the regular season the last two years, he’s averaged 66 rushing yards per game. The Lions, meanwhile, gave up more fantasy points to running backs than anyone else in the league in 2020. Fortunately, they made up for it by missing more tackles than anyone else in the league.

TJ Hockenson under 4.5 catches

The 49ers have the best coverage linebacker in the NFL in Fred Warner. For that reason, they allow the fewest receptions, receiving yards, and fantasy points per game to the tight end position. Hockenson is clearly the Lions’ biggest receiving threat without question. The entire Detroit wide receiving corps has 253 catches combined, with 78% of those belonging to Tyrell Williams. That is exactly why DeMeco Ryans is going to force someone else to beat his defense.

For more betting and fantasy advice, be sure to listen to The Gold Diggers podcast every Friday, and give the Niners Nation Podcast Network a follow while you’re at it.
