Today, we’ll get our football fix with ten preseason games. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long. The Bears and the Dolphins will start the day at 10 a.m. PT. Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Justin Fields could get some reps with the first team skill players, but he also said Fields would “get a lot of reps. The more reps that we can get from him right now, the better.”
Miami’s second-year QB Tua Tagovailoa didn’t have the greatest rookie year, but he has a new target in Jaylen Waddle. So I think this first game should have its fair share of big plays.
At 1 p.m., the Broncos face the Vikings. Minnesota’s head coach Mike Zimmer has pretty much said not many of his starters would play, while Denver has their own controversy as Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater have been hot and cold during training camp.
At 4 p.m. PT, the Saints and the Ravens play, and the Browns and the Jaguars. We’ve heard all about Trey Lance and Justin Fields, but how often do we hear about the No. 1 draft pick? It feels like Trevor Lawrence is an afterthought.
At the bottom of the hour, the Bengals face the Bucs, and the Jets face the Giants. Let’s see if another veteran would rather retire than play for Joe Judge and if Zach Wilson looks promising.
At 5 p.m. PT, the Texans face the Packers. The other games today are Seattle against the Raiders and the Chargers at the Rams.
Did NFL Network drop the ball by not having the No. 3 overall pick and Patrick Mahomes on TV tonight instead of a Justin Herbert-less Charger team? I lean yes.
