3-time Pro Bowl safety will try to make the team at perhaps linebacker
The Las Vegas Raiders signed safety Jamal Adams as a free agent recently.
Let’s take a closer look at Adams:
Size:
6-1, 213 pounds.
NFL experience:
Adams is entering his ninth NFL season. He is a three-time Pro Bowl player who was the No. 6 overall draft pick in 2017 and was traded from the New York Jets to the Seattle Seahawks and new Las Vegas head coach Pete Carroll in 2020 in a blockbuster trade. Adams played for Carroll for four seasons. Adams has had difficulty staying healthy. He has played a full season just twice and has played a total of 15 games the past three seasons. He was released by both the Tennessee Titans and the Detroit Lions last season.
College:
He went to LSU.
How he will fit in with Raiders:
Adams is currently behind starters Jeremy Chinn and Isaiah Pola-Mao. If Adams can stay healthy and he can regain his previous success, he could play a lot in a “big nickel” package and be a top rotational player. Yet, his recent history suggests he is not a sure thing to make the 53-man roster. But Carroll definitely feels good about giving this player another chance. Thursday, the Raiders worked Adams at linebacker, so that may be another way for him to make the team and earn playing time as well.
