There has been movement on the left tackle market in recent days
Kolton Miller and his agent are surely paying attention to what has been happening around the NFL in recent days.
There has been big movement on the left tackle market. Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers gave Rashawn Slater a new contract and Tuesday the Indianapolis Colts extend the contract of Bernhard Raimann.
Slater signed a four-year, $114 million deal. Raimann signed a four year, $100 million deal. Like Miller, both of those left tackles were entering the final deal of the contract.
Those deals give both the Las Vegas Raiders and Miller a guideline for a new deal. Now, both Slater and Raimann are younger than Miller, who turns 30 in October, so the money and length of deals may be different, but the guideline is there.
Miller has wanted a contract extension. He made some news when he decided to skip the start voluntary offseason workouts because of his contract situation. But he worked in good faith as he attended most of the offseason and publicly said he wanted to be a “Raider for life.” Miller is entering the final season of a three-year, $54 million contract that included $42 million in guaranteed money.
The Raiders drafted Caleb Rogers and Charles Grant in the third round and may want to wait to decide on Miller’s future.
If Las Vegas does want to extend Miller early, they have see some solid groundwork done elsewhere this week.
