Jakobi Meyers ‘Happy’ To Be With Raiders Despite Trade Request

September 18, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Jakobi Meyers, Raiders

Jakobi Meyers has remained relatively calm about his current situation, despite his ongoing trade request to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Meyers previously expressed a desire to stay in Las Vegas long-term, and the organization demonstrated a willingness to commit to veterans this past summer when they extended contracts to Geno Smith and Maxx Crosby. Curiously, though, Meyers didn’t receive an extension, which is why the two sides find themselves in a holding pattern.

The Raiders have not been very active in trade talks involving Meyers, so it seems that the franchise is happy to keep him on the roster. Meyers would have every right to complain and sit out, but he still suited up for Las Vegas in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Meyers has been able to stay level-headed, and he expressed how much he still enjoys playing for the Silver and Black via the Raiders, as transcribed by Austin Boyd of Heavy.com:

“I’m happy to play football; I’m happy to be with my boys; I’m happy to be a Raider,” Meyers said Sunday. “But like I said, man, wherever the job takes me and whoever needs me to win and whoever wants me to be there, I’m going to be there proudly.”

From the sound of it, Meyers genuinely seems like he would be OK with whatever happens so long as he gets to continue playing football. Las Vegas should feel more inclined to keep him for the foreseeable future after his Week 1 performance against New England. Meyers led the team in receptions with eight and recorded 97 receiving yards, finding himself downfield for Geno Smith.

Head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly deserve plenty of credit for tailoring the offense to Smith’s strengths, and Meyers turned out to be a primary beneficiary of the game plan. Even though Meyers might not be a household name, he’s more than proven he’s a quality starting wideout and deserves to get paid as such.

The Raiders will certainly celebrate earning a win to start the 2025 season, but they can improve their chances to rack up more if they lock up Meyers long-term.

Josh Jacobs calls Jakobi Meyers most underrated teammate on Raiders

Josh Jacobs is currently starring for the Green Bay Packers after a successful start to his career with the Raiders. During his time in Las Vegas, Jacobs carried the offense, though he named Jakobi Meyers as his most underrated teammate.
