Mike Mayock indicates that more additions may be coming to Raiders roster

The Las Vegas Raiders may make some roster moves as soon as late Thursday.

They could put players such as linebacker Nicholas Morrow and Javin White, running back Jalen Richard and cornerback Keisean Nixon on the injured reserve with all those players having a chance to return this season. Sources have told Silver and Black Pride that veteran tight end Derek Carrier, who was cut Tuesday, could also return as soon as today.

There are also other positions the team could look to add at, including offensive line and linebacker. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Las Vegas general manager Mike Mayock was asked about adding at those specific positions and he didn’t shy away from the possibility of the team making moves there.

Mayock said linebacker could still be a need even after the trade for Denzel Perryman with the Carolina Panthers became official on Wednesday. Perryman practiced with the Raiders that day, reuniting with his Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, who now holds that job with the Raiders.

“We feel pretty good about bringing Denzel Perryman in and adding him to the group. But when you lose Nick Morrow, when you lose Javin White, are we still open for business potentially? Yeah, we are,” Mayock said.

As for adding on the offensive line, Mayock said this:

“We have three tackles. Denzelle [Good] has played guard and tackle. We only carried eight. I would anticipate we would get to nine probably at some point in the near future. I’d feel more comfortable with nine to be honest with you.

We just thought there was kind of a cut off point after eight where we were. So, what I really like about our three tackles is, I think Kolton [Miller] has had the best camp since he’s been here. I think [Alex] Leatherwood is exactly what we thought he was, and [Brandon] Parker has had his best camp. So, he’s a true swing tackle, which in this league carries a lot of value.”

Therefore, after spending Tuesday shedding the roster and Wednesday compiling the practice squad, Thursday may be a day the Raiders tinker even more with the 53-man lineup.
