Projecting a new contract for Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers

The Raiders could use some stability at wide receiver, so what would an extension for Jakobi Meyers cost?

The Las Vegas Raiders didn’t have an amazing offensive season in 2024, but they did welcome the breakout campaign of several skill position players.

Star tight end Brock Bowers held the spotlight, catching 112 passes for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and First-Team All-Pro honor.

But, Las Vegas also saw Jakobi Meyers emerge as their No. 1 wide receiver, catching 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns, despite dealing with limited quarterback play.

After Davante Adams was shipped off early in the season, Meyers shined, nearly doubling the production of the next-best wide receiver (539 receiving yards for Tre Tucker).

Meyers is heading into a contract year, wrapping up a three-year, $33 million contract in 2025 as he enters his age-29 season. The Raiders did add to their pass-catching core with the selection of TCU wideout Jack Bech at No. 58 in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they still don’t have much depth or established options at the position.

With the Raiders looking for more stability, could Meyers be an extension candidate this offseason? Back in April, ESPN’s Ryan McFadden suggested that the wideout would be open to the possibility, naming Meyers as a top extension candidate for Las Vegas.

“Meyers is open to getting a new deal done because he would like to be a Raider for the long term, according to a source with direct knowledge,” McFadden wrote.

So, what could an extension look like for Meyers?

Baseline numbers for a Jakobi Meyers contract extension with Raiders

Meyers signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Raiders back in 2023. Currently, that ranks 32nd among wide receivers, with many contracts usurping his with the continuous rise of the salary cap.

Meyers is entering his age-29 season, which is considered older for wide receivers, so his market may differ from some of his peers. But, there are some baseline numbers we can still consider.

This offseason, Darius Slayton re-signed with the New York Giants on a three-year, $36 million deal. Slayton is slightly younger than Meyers and has been less productive throughout his career, never eclipsing 1,000 yards in a season.

Interestingly enough, Cooper Kupp could be a good comparison for Meyers after signing a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. Kupp was an All-Pro back in 2021, but has posted seasons of 812, 737, and 710 receiving yards over the past three years while struggling to remain healthy.

Up the ladder, Jerry Jeudy could also be a comparison after signing a three-year, $52.5 million extension with the Cleveland Browns following a trade. Jeudy had three seasons over 750 yards, but also never eclipsed 1,000 yards prior to the extension. However, he was four years younger when he signed his deal.

Projecting a new deal for Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers

Given that Meyers has one year left on his current deal and is entering his age-29 season in 2025, a two or three-year extension makes sense for him and the Raiders.

Age is a factor, but the Raiders also have a need at wide receiver, as they don’t have any other established options on their roster. So, it would make sense for Las Vegas to commit and have some stability at the position going forward.

A three-year deal with a guaranteed structure that provides flexibility seems to be a logical outcome here, with the salary coming just above Cooper Kupp’s $15 million per year.

Projection: 3 years, $46.5 million, $24 million guaranteed
