Tom Telesco knows him
In the next week, there will be several players available at all positions, including the quarterback position.
One interesting name to watch is Cleveland Browns’ second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Athletic reported this week that the Browns have had trade talks with multiple teams about Thompson-Robinson who played well in the preseason last year after being drafted in the fifth round out of UCLA.
Should the Las Vegas Raiders be one of those teams?
It’s likely Thompson-Robinson wouldn’t be the answer to be the Raiders’ starting quarterback during the 2024 season or even in the future. But he could be brought in to develop and he likely won’t be overly expensive in terms of trade compensation going to Cleveland.
The key is whether the Raiders would be interested in him and there are clues that they might be.
He visited six teams prior to the 2023 draft, including the Los Angeles Chargers. That is noteworthy since new Raiders’ general manager Tom Telesco was the Chargers’ general manager during that time. Thompson-Robinson also visited the Raiders prior to the draft, but that’s not really relevant know because they have a new leadership (assistant GM Champ Kelly and a few other staffers are still there) and a new offensive staff.
Thompson-Robinson would probably welcome a trade to the Raiders since he is from Las Vegas and his mother is a professor at UNLV.
