Raiders Expect Guard Jackson Powers-Johnson To Be Out ‘For A While’

November 22, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Jackson Powers-Johnson, Raiders

The offensive line has been one of the struggles for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, and it showed on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. The team was already without starting left tackle Kolton Miller and would then see guard Jackson Powers-Johnson leave the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury.

The exact injury is still unknown at this time, but the early prognosis isn’t good, as head coach Pete Carroll said the Raiders are expecting Powers-Johnson to be out for a while with this injury, via Ryan McFadden of ESPN:

Las Vegas Raiders starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson was ruled out of Thursday night’s 10-7 loss to the Denver Broncos after suffering an ankle injury, and coach Pete Carroll said he will be out “for a while.”

Powers-Johnson was hurt at the beginning of the second quarter when he rolled his ankle while quarterback Geno Smith was sacked by Denver edge rusher Nik Bonitto.

Powers-Johnson was on the ground momentarily and then helped off the field by trainers. The Raiders took down the medical tent and carted Powers-Johnson into the locker room.

The Raiders also lost left guard Dylan Parham to a high ankle sprain in the contest, leaving them without three starters up front. And against a Broncos team that has the most sacks in the NFL by a large margin, it made all the difference in the 10-7 loss.

Quarterback Geno Smith was hit 12 times on the night, with the Raiders giving up six sacks total. Smith even had to leave the game briefly after one hit, forcing backup Kenny Pickett into action, but Smith did return, though he was seen sitting on the bench with his left quad wrapped at the end of the game.

This is an unfortunate injury for Powers-Johnson, who has been an important piece of the Raiders’ offensive line as they try to improve up front. Now, Pete Carroll and the rest of this staff will have to figure out a way for the Raiders’ line to hold up so this offense can begin to produce the way they expected at the start of the season.

Derek Carr reacts to Raiders trading WR Jakobi Meyers

At the trade deadline, the Raiders made the move to deal WR Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars for 4th and 6th-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Retired former Raiders QB Derek Carr gave his thoughts on the move and how it feels to see a good player walk out the building.
