Raiders News: Chargers QB Justin Herbert Addresses Incident With Maxx Crosby

December 10, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Maxx Crosby, Justin Herbert, Chargers, Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders’ disappointing season continued in Week 13 as they fell apart in the second half and ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 31-14. The year has been a frustrating one, and it seemed to boil over late in the contest as star defensive end Maxx Crosby had a little bit of an incident with Chargers QB Justin Herbert.

Late in the game, after the Chargers converted a third down, Herbert began taunting the Raiders. This led to Crosby shoving Herbert down to the ground, drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Crosby is not normally one to have these kinds of outbursts, so it really just showed his level of frustration both at the game and likely the season as a whole.

For his part, Herbert didn’t think too much of the incident, saying that he has a lot of respect for Crosby as a player and feels that moment was simply a matter of emotions getting the best of the Raiders star, via Chargers YouTube:

“Yeah, I think it was just an emotional game. I was excited for the third down, and he’d been getting after us all day, and so I think it’s just one of those plays where emotions got the best of us. I’ve got a ton of respect for him as a player.”

As Herbert said, it was a case of frustrations and emotions boiling over in the moment, and shouldn’t be treated as a big deal at all. The Chargers quarterback even admitted that he could’ve done a better job of keeping his emotions in check in that moment as well. Even still, Crosby will likely be facing a fine from the NFL.

Crosby is the leader of this Raiders team. He has spoken openly and often about his desire to win, so the struggles of this season, with the Raiders having lost six straight games, are undoubtedly eating at him. He continues to be a force on the line and he finished the game with nine tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks, but his heroics just haven’t been enough to lift this team.

Raiders name Greg Olson offensive coordinator after firing Chip Kelly

This game against the Chargers was the Raiders’ first with Greg Olson at the helm, as he called plays after being named interim offensive coordinator following the team’s decision to part ways with Chip Kelly just 11 games into his first season with the franchise. This is Olson’s third stint as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator.
