The Las Vegas Raiders will go into the 2023 season with a solid stable of receivers featuring Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Hunter Renfrow.
Adams will of course be the focal point of the passing game, while Meyers figures to slot in and act as an option in the intermediate and downfield areas. That leaves Renfrow to resume his role in the slot, though he’s coming off quite a down year.
Renfrow made his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2021 when he recorded 103 passes for 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns but was unable to build on that production in 2022. Renfrow suffered a concussion in Week 2 and was later placed on injured reserve due to an oblique injury. The receiver would appear in 10 games where he recorded just 36 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
The 27-year-old is clearly better than what he showed last year and wants to show his teammates and the rest of the organization that they can rely on him via Grant Gordon of NFL.com:
“I feel like I let a lot of my teammates down last year,” Renfrow said. “That’s something that left a bad taste in my mouth and something that I want to get over and prove to them — through the spring and also going into the season — that I’m a guy that they can count on.”
Renfrow added that he’s hoping his preparation leads to a much better season and that last year was a one-off situation:
“I’m hoping last year was a fluke. You always do things, core-wise and strength-and-training-wise to prepare yourself. And I’d like to think I’ve been playing at a decent level at Clemson for four or five years, and then four or five years here. So, I didn’t want to get all scared all of a sudden and think I had to do all this and change who I am. And so, just get back to the basics.”
By all accounts, Renfrow is a hard worker and team-first player so there’s optimism that he should be able to return to form and help the Silver and Black get back on track.

Jimmy Garoppolo will have several weapons at his disposal, but utilizing Adams the most is what’ll help the Raiders win games. Although the two haven’t spent much time together yet, Garoppolo believes it’s a luxury to have Adams on his side.
