Raiders News: Maxx Crosby Calls Out NFL For Cleat Issue Against Eagles

December 28, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Maxx Crosby, Raiders, Jordan

Maxx Crosby has been one of the few bright spots for the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2025 season, as the all-world pass rusher remains one of the most disruptive players in the NFL.

Crosby has been able to maintain his elite level of play despite another dispiriting season from the rest of the Raiders offense. Las Vegas’ offense is among the worst units in the league, so it forces Crosby and the defense to try to keep games close.

However, Crosby and company had a miserable time in Week 15 as the Philadelphia Eagles shut them out. Despite Crosby’s best efforts to get stops, Las Vegas was simply outmatched and fell to 2-12.

Before the game, Crosby was already dealing with an annoying situation, as he had gotten in trouble with the NFL over his cleats. On his podcast “The Rush”, Crosby described the problem and why he had to change his cleats out, as transcribed by Austin Boyd of Heavy.com:

“The NFL was crying and forced me to take my shoes off,” Crosby said on “The Rush.”Represent my daughter out there, and it says Ella on the front of them. … Like I’m wearing them, regardless what they say, and I’ll take the fine, I don’t care.

“And I noticed my guy Nico, one of our equipment guys, is on the sideline, and he’s literally holding the white cleats under his arm. … I was like, (expletive). I know they (expletive) called about my cleats. I went up to Nico, and I’m like, ‘What? They are (expletive) about it?’ He said, ‘Well, they are going to take you out of the game if you don’t change your cleats.‘”

The NFL is historically strict about things like a player’s wardrobe, and players need approval from the league for modifications to their clothing, such as cleats. In this case, they seemed adamant to have Crosby change, even though the two teams were able to play.

In a lost season like this one, it can feel like nothing is going right, though Crosby has proven time and time again that he’s loyal to the organization. Crosby’s willingness to play for the Raiders says a lot about his character, but unfortunately, he’ll have to wait another year before competing in any meaningful games.

Raiders’ Maxx Crosby nominated for Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award

Not only is Maxx Crosby amazing on the field, but he’s also just as impressive a person off of it as well. For that reason, Crosby was nominated as the Raiders’ choice for the Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award.
