Raiders News: NFL Comments On Tom Brady’s Booth Appearance Against Chargers

September 18, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Tom Brady, Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady has been doing his part to ensure the franchise gets back to winning games after a few dismal years.

Brady brings instant credibility to the Raiders organization and has already been involved in a few major decisions.

Aside from his duties as a minority owner, Brady also serves as a broadcaster for FOX, which has sparked discussions about whether this constitutes a conflict of interest.

Those talks got even more heated when Brady was spotted in the coaches’ booth during Las Vegas’ Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. While images of Brady with a headset on caused a stir, the NFL released a statement saying Brady was within his rights to be in the booth via Mike Kadlick of Sports Illustrated:

“There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coaches’ booth or wearing a headset during a game,” the league said, via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. “Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner.”

The NFL added that personnel in both are only allowed to use league-issued equipment, as well as Brady’s limitations regarding meetings:

“All personnel sitting in the booth must abide by policies that prohibit the use of electronic devices other than league-issued equipment such as a Microsoft Surface Tablet for the Sideline Viewing System … ” the statement continues. “Tom continues to be prohibited from going to a team facility for practices or production meetings. He may attend production meetings remotely but may not attend in person at the team facility or hotel. He may also conduct an interview off site with a player like he did last year a couple times, including for the Super Bowl. Of course, as with any production meeting with broadcast teams, it’s up to the club, coach or players to determine what they say in those sessions.”

Despite the NFL’s official statement, other teams and fans may still find it suspect that Brady can listen in and communicate with other personnel. However, Las Vegas has more pressing concerns, such as responding to its Week 2 loss.

Tom Brady praises Pete Carroll ahead of regular season opener

Tom Brady reportedly had a say in who the Raiders hired as their head coach, and he ensured that they landed an experienced coach in Pete Carroll. Ahead of Week 1, Brady praised Carroll as a tremendous coach and leader.
