Las Vegas among 2 teams showing strong interest in Rams’ quarterback
The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly have emerged as serious contenders to land quarterback Matthew Stafford in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams.
Wednesday morning, NFL reporter Diana Russini of The Athletic reported that the Rams are getting significant interest from teams, notably the Raiders and the New York Giants. The report states teams now expect the Rams to increase their asking price for the 37-year-old quarterback because of the interest. It had been reported that the Rams were seeking a first-round pick plus for Stafford, but teams were more interested in giving up a second-round pick plus for him.
Matthew Stafford’s exploration of his market value the last few weeks has indeed attracted significant interest from teams, notably the Raiders and the Giants, per sources.

Meanwhile, ESPN reported Wednesday that a Stafford trade is the top priority of the Giants right now. The Giants have the No. 3 overall draft pick and the Raiders have the No. 6 pick.

Monday, Sports Illustrated has reported the Raiders are among the teams that have shown interest in trading for the Los Angeles Rams quarterback. The report stated the Raiders have been joined by the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns and other unnamed teams to express interest in Stafford.
Tuesday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady is recruiting Stafford to Las Vegas by reaching out to his camp. Tuesday, both Raiders general manager John Spytek and coach Pete Carroll said Brady is involved in the team’s offseason plans.
Wednesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schulz reported that Stafford recently spent time with Brady at his Montana home as part of Brady’s attempted recruitment of Stafford.

However, NFL Media said the meeting in Montana was unplanned and Brady wasn’t hosting Stafford.
Both Spytek and Carroll declined to address the Stafford talks while at the NFL combine. Yet, Spytek said the team will be interested in good players and Carroll said the Raiders’ quarterback competition will be “widely contested.”
The Rams are allowing Stafford to talk to other teams to gauge trade interest. However, there are reports that the Rams and Stafford are not completely done with each other and the two sides could still come back and agree to a contract extension.
But it seems interest and talks are heating up and the Raiders are in the middle of the chatter.
