Las Vegas shuffles roster after rookie minicamp
As expected, the Las Vegas Raiders did some roster shuffling at the bottom of the roster Monday after conducting a rookie minicamp during the weekend that included some veteran tryouts.
Among the six signings were already reported signings of linebacker Jaylon Smith and safety Jonathan Sutherland, two veterans who were trying out during the weekend.

To make room for the six new players on the 90-man roster, the Raiders shipped out six players on Monday. They included 2023 draft pick linebacker Amari Burney and 2022 draft pick Matthew Butler. Both were bit players last season. Burney was expected, though, to get a chance to compete for a spot in a wide-open linebacker room.
Las Vegas also cut wide receivers Kristian Wilkerson and Tyreik McAlister, who was a training-camp star last year. The Raiders are going to have a revamped wide-receiver group this year that will include draft picks Jack Bech and Dont’a Thornton and could also include sixth-round pick Tommy Mellott, who is converting to wide receiver from quarterback.
Expect more roster tinkering on the coming weeks as the new Las Vegas regimes evaluate the roster.
