Fans seem comfortable with wide receiver room
The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver room has changed a lot this offseason and it is a much younger group this year after the draft.
We wanted to know what our community members felt about it and shortly after the draft we sought your opinion. It is clear fans are feeling pretty good about this unit as we asked if readers if they think this group is ready to roll or if they want the team to add at the position?
In a poll with more than 700 votes cast, 71 percent of the responders are satisfied with the group, while just 29 percent wants to see more players added at the position.
Las Vegas took TCU wide receiver Jack Bech in the second round (No. 58) and Tennessee wide out Dont’e Thornton in the fourth round (No. 108) and then Tommy Mellott in the sixth round.
Bech has a chance to start opposite Jakobi Meyers, while the speedy Thornton, who is 6-foot-5, is a vertical threat who needs some refining. But he should easily make the team.
Las Vegas will keep five or six receivers, so three of them are accounted for with Meyers, Bech, Thornton and perhaps Mellott. That leaves two or three open spots. Here are the other veteran receivers currently on Las Vegas roster (not including expected undrafted free-agent additions: Tre Tucker, Alex Bachman, Tyreik McAllister, Kristen Wilkerson.
Perhaps the Raiders will add at the position, but if they don’t, fans seem satisfied.
