Second-year player must take step this season
Las Vegas Raiders’ second-season defensive end Tyree Wilson needs to show improvement this year.
Let’s look at what to expect from the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 draft in the 2024 NFL season:
Size:
6-6, 275 pounds.
2023 recap:
The Texas Tech product had an uneven rookie season after coming back from a foot injury. He had some moments in which he looked like a solid player. But he often disappeared. Overall, it was a disappointing rookie campaign for such a high draft pick.
What he offers Raiders in 2024:
He is a backup pass-rusher behind Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce. He has a chance to be a rotational player but he could also be buried. Frankly, Wilson has been quiet this summer, so he has to prove he can help this team in 2024.
Best-case 2024 scenario:
Wilson develops his game quickly and becomes a reliable pass-rusher and another option along with Crosby and Koonce. If Koonce leaves in free agency on 2025, Wilson can then take on a much bigger role in 2024.
