UDFA got a chance to wear the green dot vs the 49ers in the final preseason game
The Las Vegas Raiders finished their final preseason game with a tie. The 24-24 finish against the San Francisco 49ers does keep them winless during the preseason but not 0-3.
One of the standouts of the entire preseason has been Amari Gainer out of North Carolina. Gainer played defensive end for the Tar Heels and is making the conversion to pure linebacker. It has led to him being the Raiders highest graded played on Pro Football Focus and a chance at a roster spot.
Antonio Pierce has noticed the growth from the Raiders rookie linebacker and gave him the Green Dot Friday night. He didn’t disappoint with 12 tackles and 10 of them being solo. Pierce praised the linebacker after the game during his press conference.
“I thought Amari did a really good job, listen got the opportunity and made the most of it. I wouldn’t want to get pulled right now when cuts coming up stuck in there until the very end. He called the defense tonight first time he has done that”
Gainer will have an uphill battle to make this team with Luke Masterson not suiting up and Tommy Eichenberg expected to make the roster. His play on special teams will play a factor and help his chances at the final 53.
