The disappointing third-round pick rips into the Raiders
The Raiders had big hopes for Arden Key when they drafted him in the third round of the 2018 draft.
The LSU product had raw pass rush skill, yet he never developed for the Silver and Black. Key had just three sacks in 37 games for the Raiders and he rarely made his presence known on the field.
The Raiders released Key this offseason. He quickly was signed by the San Francisco 49ers and, by all accounts, is looking solid in training camp.
In an interview with NBC Sports, Key made it clear that he is extremely happy to be an ex-Raider and unloaded on his former team.
“I wasn’t totally surprised [to be cut], to be honest, I wanted to get out of there,” Key told the outlet. “[I had] been wanting to get out of there. I was more happy than surprised. I wish it happened a little earlier, but hey, I got what I wanted … It was bad. It was just bad all around for me. Bad system. It just wasn’t the right fit for me. I had to get out.”
OK, then …
My thoughts? The feeling is probably mutual. Key did nothing as a Raider.
