Las Vegas Raiders quarterback believes the Raiders offense will be explosive under new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly
The Las Vegas Raiders‘ offense was one of the worst in the NFL during the 2024 season. The passing and running game were inefficient and struggled to move the football consistently, helping the Silver and Black finish 4-13.
John Spytek and Pete Carroll focused on rebuilding the offense. First, they hired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who helped the Ohio State Buckeyes win a National Championship. The next step was trading for quarterback Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks for a third-round pick.
Smith is an upgrade for the position, and Kelly is the same as a play caller. In an interview with The Athletic, Smith talked about what Kelly brings to the offense and how it can be explosive in 2025.
We’ve always had a rapport with one another, which has made the transition smooth,” Geno Smith told The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen of Kelly. ”And so, learning this offense, I’ve been in three different systems in three years. And so I’ve been able to adjust, and that’s something that I’m good at. I can adjust. And so, just an adjustment period, but the offense is really good. I’m looking forward to it. Won’t give too many details, but we want to be explosive and efficient.”
Explosive plays are essential for any NFL offense to become successful. Sustaining long drives is vital, and scoring points outside of the red zone will elevate the Raiders.
