The preseason games were not the only reason Minshew became the starter for the Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback battle has ended with the team naming Gardner Minshew the Starter. Minshew will lead the charge against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 and hopes to maintain the job for the season.
it was a surprise to many in the media when Pierce declared Minshew the signal caller. The former Washington State quarterback was coming off an ugly start to the second preseason game where he was 10 for 21 passing and led two field goal drives.
However, the games were not the only factor. During his press conference, Pierce said it was the totality of camp and also leadership.
“His personality is infectious, his energy is infectious and his leadership is infectious.”
Intangibles are an important factor in the quarterback position. He is the field general and the coach and leader of the offense. Minshew displayed more than O’Connell during camp according to the head coach.
Hopefully, it leads to efficiency on offense.
