Silver Minings: Prices dropping for Raiders opening game vs the Ravens

Prices are still high for the Monday Night Football matchup

The good news is prices are starting to drop for the Las Vegas Raiders’ first regular season game with fans at Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Yes.

But the bad news is the price tags are still super high.

Ugh.

The lowest advertised price for the Raiders/Ravens MNF matchup @ Allegiant Stadium on StubHub has dropped $105 since the vaccination requirement was announced. Could also be tied to the game inching closer and tix not selling at higher price, w/ sellers adjusting. #vegas #raiders pic.twitter.com/csfe03csHc

As of Tuesday, the cheapest tickets for the game via StubHub are $345. It’s silly high for a ticket that is premium, but the prices have shrunk some.

Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal makes an interesting point in the above tweet. Part of the reason for the drop in ticket prices could be simply because the game is approaching. But perhaps the Raiders’ recent decision to only allow vaccinated fans into the stadium is playing a role in the price reduction because it eliminates a segment of the buying public.

Fans can get vaccinated on the day of the game at Allegiant Stadium and then they must wear masks. Fully vaccinated fans will not have to wear masks during games. Children under the age of 12 can attend games, but must wear masks.

I would think, regardless of the vaccination effect, prices will remain high for games in Las Vegas this season. But perhaps this is a good sign that the prices on the secondary ticket market will drop at least a small amount as the season progresses.

In other Raiders’ links:

  • Raiders No. 2? Former NFL linebacker Brandon Marshall, who was a Raider for a short period of time, thinks Las Vegas will finish second in the AFC West behind Kansas City.
  • Carr thrives: Raiders; quarterback Derek Carr ranks at the top of the league in this metric.
  • Looking back: The Raiders’ website looks at the top plays of the preseason. There were a lot of them. Now, onto the regular season.
