Silver Minings: Yannick Ngakoue is ready for a leadership role

Las Vegas Raiders Yannick Ngakoue feels like he’s been a Raider all along

Yannick Ngakoue is the most significant addition to the Las Vegas Raiders football team. The Raiders were desperate for a pass rush, and Ngakoue is a specialist at sacking QBs.

The former Maryland Terrapin never finished a season with less than eight sacks. He has one of the deadliest cross chops in the NFL with a high motor. His talent is fun to watch when it comes to creating pressure on NFL passers.

Yannick Ngakoue: Not only the cross-chop king of the NFL (D-Law close 2nd), but I think he’s the most underrated pass-rusher in the NFL right now. Already has an effective club & club-swim as counters. Only 23-years old.

As one of the veterans on the defensive line, he finds himself in a different role than before. Rod Marinelli has called upon Ngakoue to be a defensive leader. He talked about this during his press conference Friday.

Umm..I would say coach Rod Marinelli. He just wants me to lead you know what I mean..he wants me able to direct this group the right way and I take that on my shoulders and I’m excited about that. I’m happy to be one of the leaders of this team that’s how I view my self. I feel like I was a Raider all along it just took me awhile to get here.

Ngakoue’s commitment since he joined the silver and back is commendable. The defense was missing this type of presence last season that will hold everyone accountable. A big year might be in store for the young pass rusher.
