The pick the Raiders received for Davante Adams has finally been used — but not by Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded away Davante Adams at the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline, earning a premium pick in the process and ridding themselves of a chunk of salary. They didn’t keep that pick from the New York Jets, though, but someone is going to use it during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Original terms of the Davante Adams trade
Raiders receive: Conditional 2025 third-round pick
Jets receive: Davante Adams
What were the final trade terms for Davante Adams?
The trade for Adams could have resulted in a third-round pick or a second-round pick heading back to the Raiders. If Adams was named an All-Pro in 2024 or was active in the AFC Championship Game of the Super Bowl, the pick would have moved up to the second round.
Because Adams did not achieve those prerequisites, the pick stayed in the third round. It was not the Jets original pick at 73, but one acquired by the Jets during the 2024 NFL Draft. They sent their fourth-round pick in 2024 to Detroit and received a third-rounder in 2025 that became 92 overall.
Who did the Raiders select with the picks from the Davante Adams trade?
The Raiders didn’t use the pick acquired in the Davante Adams trade (92 overall) during the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead they sent it to the Seattle Seahawks in return for veteran quarterback Geno Smith.
At pick 92, the Seattle Seahawks replaced Geno Smith with Alabama QB Jalen Milroe.
How was Davante Adams’ performance for the Jets?
Adams hit the ground running in New York with his old quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. He started 11 games catching 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. His per-game and per-play averages were right in line with his numbers with the Raiders and very good for a 32-year-old receiver.
With Rodgers getting the boot under a new regime in New York, the Jets also released Adams instead of paying him a hefty salary in 2025. He signed with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason.
Who won the Davante Adams trade between the Jets and Raiders?
Adams was supposed to jump start the Jets offense, and he did that to a degree, but the Jets were a mess and couldn’t win very many games despite the shot in the arm. All things considered, I bet Jets fans would rather have that third-round pick than eleven games of Adams.
Meanwhile Adams had pretty much given up on the Raiders, so getting a Day 2 pick in return was a pretty big win for Vegas.
Trading an aging, unhappy, expensive receiver for a starting quarterback in Smith, who should still have a couple years to stabilize the ship (yes, that’s a Raiders pun) just makes it better.
WINNER: RAIDERS
