The loyalty to Raiders usually beats all over fan choices

Raiders over everything

Sometimes, we get stuck in our Las Vegas Raiders’ world.

Thus, we forget that yes, there are more sports out there than football and the NFL and, believe it or not, there are other rooting options in professional and college sports than the pulling only for the Silver and Black.

So, for this week’s Tuesday Community Question, I wanted to see what other sports teams do our community members pull for other than the Raiders and where the Raiders rank in terms of your outside overall teams, pro and college sports included.

In what was not a surprise at all, most of our community members answered as I expected — Yes, the Raiders are most of your favorite sports team. The answers were really great.

Yes, they are. I’ve been told I have a very high pain threshold.

Yes – they’re they only sports franchise that I’ve followed since I was a small child (aged 5, in 1977) and the only team I’ve followed in the sport. I’ve changed hockey teams based on where I live, and in all other sports I have an out of conference “2nd favorite team” I root for against every team except my favorite as well as if and when mine are no longer in the playoff hunt. There is no football team I would ever root for outside of the Raiders. None. I would sooner just stop watching football than to do that.

Yes, though in the late 80s I was more a baseball fan than football, plus the Raiders were in LA (which I took as a betrayal), so the Humm Baby SF Giants of Will Clark, Robbie Thompson, Kevin Mitchell etc were my team. Reunion in Oakland re-flipped the script–I forgave and forgot. The move to LV did not bother me because now that I’ve lived in NYC longer than I lived in the Bay Area, the city matters less than the franchise to me. Madden’s Raiders were my first love and I never want to fight again.

*Don’t know if college teams count as franchises. They are at the least “big business.”

Born in the Bay and apparently I was a Raiders fan very early in life. My dad swears I was running around the house. yelling “Vikings suck” as a 1-yr old during some game in January 1977.

Huge Raiders and (previously) A’s fan – it’s too bad John Fisher sucked any and all joy out of that storied franchise, hard to root for nowadays.
