Tom Brady Defends Roles As Raiders Minority Owner & Broadcaster

October 9, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Tom Brady, Raiders, Geno Smith

Through three weeks of the 2025 season, the Las Vegas Raiders sit at 1-2, but much of the chatter surrounding the team centers on Tom Brady.

Brady appears to be heavily involved in the Raiders’ operations, to the point that his presence in the coach’s booth during Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers drew criticism.

Some believed that Brady wearing a headset during the game was a conflict of interest, although the NFL cleared him of any wrongdoing.

In response to any critics, Brady pushed back and said that his roles aren’t actually a conflict of interest via Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports:

“I love football. At its core it is a game of principles,” Brady wrote. “And with all the success it has given me, I feel I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport; which is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe. Rather, it’s the place from which my ethical duty emerges: to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything.”

Brady went on to write that negative perceptions of his roles is born out of distrust:

“When you live through uncertain and untrusting times like we are today, it is very easy to watch a person’s passions and profession intersect, and to believe you’re looking at some sort of dilemma,” Brady wrote. “Because when you’re blinded by distrust, it’s hard to see anything other than self-interest.”

Lastly, Brady doubled down on his stance and believes he isn’t doing anything other than what he loves to do:

“People who are like that, particularly to a chronic, pathological degree, are telling on themselves,” Brady wrote. “They’re showing you their worldview and how they operate. They’re admitting that they can only conceive of interests that are selfish; that they cannot imagine a person doing their job for reasons that are greater than themselves.”

It certainly sounds like the questioning and criticism irked Brady, who responded with a few strong statements. From the outside, it’s difficult to prove that there is any foul play regarding Brady’s role, but the situation warrants monitoring.

Tom Brady allowed to attend production meetings as FOX Sports analyst

In Tom Brady’s first year as a Raiders minority owner, he was banned from attending production meetings. However, Brady is now able to participate in production meetings as a FOX Sports analyst.
