Rumored to be traded, players like Tyree Wilson remain
There were some Las Vegas Raiders players who were rumors to be on the trade block going into the NFL Draft.
In the end, however, all of those players remain with the team after the draft. Now, things can change, and deals could still be made prior the season, but, for now, it seems like these players will head to training camp with the Silver and Black. Let’s look at what to expect from these players:
Tyree Wilson:
Two years ago, Wilson was the highly-touted No. 7 overall pick. Now, the defensive end is known as an underwhelming third-year player. Still, it is not too late for Wilson to become a consistent performer. The Raiders still have Wilson as part of the rotation and has a chance to impress the new regime. Still, if he doesn’t make big strides, the Raiders will likely not give him his fifth-year option a year form know, setting him up to be a free agent in 2027.
Aidan O’Connell:
The Raiders bypassed some higher-profile quarterback prospects in the draft and settled on small-school star Cam Miller in the sixth round. He is very much a developmental player. So, O’Connell remains Geno Smith’s backup. Yes, the Raiders could still trade O’Connell and they could try to upgrade on the veteran market. Maybe that decision will happen at the end of the preseason. But, for now, it seems like O’Connell has a chance to stick around.
Michael Mayer:
There was a report early in the offseason, the new regime would shop the 2023 second-round pick. But it’s been pretty quiet and it seems like Mayer will have a chance to show he can be a productive player after two pretty quiet NFL seasons. This is a big season for him.
Zamir White:
The 2023 fourth-round pick has gone from being the Week 1 starter last season to being pushed way down the depth chart. Sure, he has a chance to be Ashton Jeanty’s backup, but White needs to have a strong preseason and training camp or he could potentially be on the roster bubble.
