Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the Los Angeles Kings vs Toronto Maple Leafs. Los Angeles Kings vs Toronto Maple Leafs
Head-to-Head: Kings 0-0 Maple Leafs

Our first and featured game of NHL predictions is a spooky one as the Kings take on the Leafs. Los Angeles will likely go with Cam Talbot, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy goalie choice. The Kings had lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in their last out. Los Angeles had won three of its last five games before that defeat. Trevor Moore has five goals while Kevin Fiala has already dished out 10 assists. The Kings are third in the league in goals scored with 35.
Joseph Woll is the confirmed starter for the Leafs, who are coming off a loss to the Nashville Predators in overtime. Toronto had won three straight games before that setback. Auston Matthews got back on the scoresheet and leads the club with seven goals this campaign. John Tavares has four goals and seven assists for 11 points this season. Toronto is fifth in converting on the power play, but 26th on the penalty kill.
Special teams will tell the story, but the Leafs should bounce back in a close one against the Kings.
Prediction: Leafs win 4-3.
Nashville Predators vs Vancouver Canucks
Head-to-Head: Predators 0-1 Canucks
TV: Bally Sports South; Sportsnet One
Our last game of tonight’s two-game Halloween slate has the Predators taking on the Vancouver Canucks. The two teams met once already with the Canucks winning, 3-2, one week ago. Thatcher Demko is the probable starter for the Canucks, who were beaten by the New York Rangers in overtime on Saturday night. Elias Pettersson is trying to earn that mega-contract with 11 assists and Brock Boeser has six goals so far.
Juuse Saros is the likely starter for the Predators, who have wins in three of the last five. Nashville has been a pleasant surprise this season under new head coach Andrew Brunette. Tommy Novak has four goals while Filip Forsberg has six assists for the club. Both teams are in the top 10 when it comes to goals against.
This will be a tight one, but Vancouver rebounds in this one.
Prediction: Canucks win 3-2.
